Events: 'Breaking Ground' Bradbury with Northcott

On Monday 21st March, the teams at Good Housing and not-for-profit disability service provider, Northcott met at the site of their new project, Banksia.

Suitably attired in hi-vis jackets, hard-hats – and with shovels in tow – Good Housing Co-Founders Sam Graiche and Antony Anisse joined Northcott Chief Operating Officer Andrew Kew and members of the wider Good Housing and Northcott teams to celebrate their continued partnership and the start of construction for Banksia in Bradbury.

Also in attendance was special guest, and future Good Housing tenant Sue – a local to the region who is already supported by the team at Northcott – who was eager to observe the site of her prospective dwelling ahead of its completion in 2023.

A suite of three 1-bedroom High Physical Support (HPS) villas and an adjoining 2-resident HPS and/or Improved Liveability (IL) villa in the heart of Bradbury, Banksia marks Good Housing’s first specialist disability accommodation offering in south-west Sydney.

In keeping with our good formula, each villa features a modern and striking architectural design, a spacious and functional kitchen area, and a private en-suite bathroom.

Villas will also be powered by the latest in assistive technology, to ensure the independence and comfort of all tenants, regardless of their accessibility requirements and preferences.

Of Good Housing’s expansion into Bradbury, Co-Founder Antony Anisse shares, “We identified a clear need for purpose-built, specialist disability accommodation within south-west Sydney, specifically the Campbelltown region.”

“Prior to the purchasing of land, we adopt a rigorous approach to determining where we believe the greatest need for specialised disability housing exists,” he continues.

“This is based on an extensive needs analysis, our ongoing engagement and work with local allied health stakeholders, and importantly, collaborating with our SIL partner Northcott, with whom we will work hand in hand to radically improve the quality of living of our tenants”.

Adds Northcott Chief Operating Officer Andrew Kew, “These new houses are in an established part of Bradbury, and we are looking forward to connecting with, and being part of, that local community.”

Reflecting on Good Housing’s partnership with Northcott, Antony continues, “As a service provider, Northcott aligns with our values of empathy, innovation and dedication, and, like Good Housing, are committed to empowering individuals to live the lives they deserve.”

“Northcott have been seminal to the growth and direction of Good Housing from the outset,” says Antony.

“Upon first meeting, we were determined to identify ways we could work together to assist those living in unsuitable and undesirable living environments, striving to create a new and positive experience for individuals and their families.”

He adds, “after years of extensive work and conversations, we are excited to witness the by-product of this partnership, first with the construction of our new home Banksia, and ultimately with the many new and exciting projects to come.”

One of Australia’s largest and most trusted not-for-profit disability service organisations, Northcott provides empowering, personalised service to participants across metropolitan and regional locations throughout NSW.

Culminating over 90 years’ experience and expertise in the disability service industry, Northcott offers a diverse range of services and support provisions to over 13,500 people with disability, their families, and their carers each year.

At the core of Good Housing and Northcott’s partnership is a passion to empower individuals with confidence, choice, and opportunity so that they may reach their full potential and enjoy the dignified, and high standard of living they deserve.

Both Good Housing and Northcott are committed to innovation, pushing the boundaries of support and specialist disability accommodation to offer a solutions-focused approach to disability services that places the wellbeing of participants above all else.

A goal that is reverberated in our latest collaboration, Banksia.
