UNISSON + GOOD HOUSING: Building Better Housing Futures Together

Good Housing and Unisson have formed a strategic partnership grounded in a shared vision: creating homes that truly enhance the lives of people with disabilities.
Our organisations are united by values of respect, empowerment, and innovation and by a belief that housing should always be more than bricks and mortar. This alignment is the foundation of our collaboration and the driver of the lasting impact we aim to achieve together.
“We’ve partnered with the Good Housing team before, and we know the genuine care that goes into every design. This initiative has the power to be truly life-changing for our clients.” Lee Carpenter, CEO Unisson

Understanding the Current Landscape
Unisson is developing a Home and Living strategy that honours the decades-long journey of its clients and responds to their changing needs as they age. Although Unisson has introduced many modern homes, too many long-standing clients remain in older houses that are no longer fit for purpose. This strategy aims to ensure every home reflects the dignity, comfort, and sense of belonging clients deserve as their needs change.
This is where Good Housing is stepping in, to support Unisson and other Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers in transitioning participants into purpose-built Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA).Together, we’re creating a pathway for participants to transition into modern, purpose-built Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) designed for both today and the future. It’s about giving people more choice, more comfort, and the dignity of a home that helps them thrive.
“Like many long-standing organisations, Unisson inherited government housing that simply doesn’t match the quality of homes available today. We want the very best for our participants, and we know Good Housing offers the right solutions to make that happen.” Lee Carpenter, CEO Unisson

A Partnership Grounded in Policy & Best Practice
The Good Housing–Unisson partnership reflects recommendations from the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability and aligns with the NDIS’s focus on choice, control, and inclusion.
Both organisations are committed to delivering housing that is safe, high-quality, and designed around the people who live there.
"At Good Housing, we see this partnership with Unisson as a natural alignment of values and purpose. Both organisations are driven by a commitment to respect, empowerment, and innovation, with a shared belief that every person with a disability deserves a home that fosters independence, safety, and belonging.
Together, we are not only delivering purpose-built Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), but also creating outcomes that give participants more choice, greater dignity, and the confidence to live the life they choose. Importantly, this work reflects the Royal Commission’s recommendations to improve housing options for people with disability, ensuring participants can move away from legacy or basic housing stock into modern, fit-for-purpose SDA where they are eligible.
By combining Unisson’s deep connection with its participants and our proven track record in designing and delivering contemporary SDA, we are building better housing futures, where participants are at the centre of every decision and every home." -Kristy Simmonds, COO Good Housing
Projects Underway
Together, Good Housing and Unisson are already working on several housing projects across Sydney and the Central Coast. These projects reflect the diversity of participant needs — from High Physical Support homes equipped with assistive technology, to designs tailored for durability, accessibility, and safety.
Every home will be modern, community-based, and purpose-built to enable residents to thrive.

Looking Ahead
As the partnership grows, Good Housing and Unisson will highlight participant stories to showcase the real impact of this work. These lived experiences will demonstrate how thoughtful design and strong partnerships can transform lives.
This collaboration is a strong step forward in building an inclusive housing landscape where people with disability can live the life they choose.
